Author Helen Weaver Gould asked, "Why do people write histories? Whatever the hidden psychological reasons may be, there is a desire to share one's hours of research and compilation with others, and when a number of individuals have expressed a common interest with you, the incentive is there to get on with the job."
The LaPorte Scrapbook is a collection of newspaper, magazine and printed articles combined to present historical events of the LaPorte community from its beginnings in 1852 up to the 1950s. Several B&W photos round out this history of a microcosm of the California Gold Rush era and one of the last surviving small mountain towns born of it.
Soft cover, 166 pages, contains a few photographs.
